As a company wholly-owned by Durham County Council, County Durham Development Company encourages strategic investment and innovation in businesses throughout the County.
Understanding the needs and concerns of businesses based in County Durham and those looking to relocate here is central to what we do. To make sure that the best investment opportunity is offered to businesses, we work closely with colleagues in the County Council and the region’s other economic support agencies.
We act as one of regional development agency One North East’s partners in the implementation of the Strategic Account Management Programme (SAMP), gathering in-depth information about key UK and overseas-owned companies investing in the region.
We can provide economic intelligence about sectoral trends or issues such as skills and supply chain developments. Companies can be put in touch with the region’s universities and research institutes. They can be informed about national initiatives, or helped to connect with local partners and foreign companies.
We also have close links with the University of Durham and the region’s other universities. Links with utility suppliers, legal, financial and other service providers further strengthen the support available to business.
