Governance & History
County Durham Development Company Ltd (CDDC) was established by Durham County Council to encourage innovation and strategic investment in the County and it takes a lead in promoting the County as a business location.
Liaising with key investors and playing a full and active part in the regional business support network feature prominently among CDDC’s activities. Responsible for the development and marketing of the North East Technology Park (NETPark) at Sedgefield, one of the fastest growing science and technology parks in the UK, CDDC is also playing a central role in encouraging the growth of a diversified, knowledge-based regional economy.
The company works closely with the region’s other economic support agencies including UK Trade & Investment, the Government Office for the North East and the regional development agency One North East.
CDDC was established in 1987 to add weight to the effort to bring much needed investment and jobs into the County after the closure of the County’s coal mines and steel works. Since then those efforts have helped create or safeguard nearly 50,000 jobs for the people of County Durham.
